Use Your Name as a Business Card

Scanning QR codes on business cards

Leave it to the gang at Mashable.com to beat me to the punch, but their article on why your next business card may be virtual is a good indication of things to come.  For me personally, I have an email address like First@Lastname.com and if you visit first.lastname.com you get my personal website with all my contact info and some portfolio information (great as a supplement to my CV).

When I was in San Fransisco for the Web 2.0 Expo, I was able to exchange business cards that contained merely my name with some cleverly placed dots (.) and at-signs (@) to denote my email/website information.  Another thing I was able to do is directly exchange my full contact information with an application on my phone called “Bump” in addition to a QR code linking to my First@Lastname.tel site — where you can download my vCard directly into your phone.  Very geeky professional indeed.

A post about the awesomeness of owning a .tel site.
